Justin "Jud" Kindle and Jason Nold Will Lead Chillicothe Mudcats in 7th Anniversary Season
The Chillicothe Mudcats will kick off its seventh season with a pair of new faces in the coaching boxes. The duo will be introduced at a special reception on Thursday, January 24th at Grand River Inn. Mudcats supporters and fans are encouraged to attend.
Grand River Entertainment, which sponsors the Mudcats, will hold the reception open to the public beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a press conference to introduce the new coaching staff - head coach Justin (Jud) Kindle and assistant coach Jason Nold, according to Mudcat general manager Liz Fechtig. 2007 coaches Keith Vorhoff and Matt Parker were unable to return for the 2008 Mudcats season due to coaching commitments at their present schools.
"We are pleased to welcome Jud and Jason to the Mudcat family as we enter this benchmark seventh season," said Fechtig. "Both bring their experiences as former collegiate players and coaches to our summer wood bat program. After interviewing several coaches for the openings, we found Jud and Jason to be energetic and excited to come to Chillicothe and be a part of the Mudcat program. Their enthusiasm for the game of baseball and our program is outstanding and we believe it will be reflected in the players they are recruiting to become Mudcats in 2008."
Head coach Justin (Jud) Kindle of Sedalia, Missouri has been the assistant coach for the past three seasons at Missouri State University in Springfield. He is a former MINK league catcher for the Beatrice Bruins and his baseball career also included college play at Crowder College, University of Arkansas and Missouri State University. Kindle played for Independent League Professional Baseball in Evansville and Gray, Indiana and Springfield, Missouri.
Assistant coach Jason Nold, of Savannah, Missouri, has been the assistant coach for the past three years at Central Methodist College and is now in his first season as assistant coach at North Central Missouri College in Trenton. Nold's collegiate career included play at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa and Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.
The Mudcats are a part of the MINK League, a highly competitive league providing a place for collegiate players to showcase their talents in a positive baseball environment, both on and off the field. The Mudcats are sponsored by Grand River Entertainment, a not-for-profit corporation based in Chillicothe for the purpose of encouraging non-professional sports programs for the pleasure and recreation of the citizens of the area.

Shafer Mudcats' first in-season pro signee
More than two dozen Chillicothe Mudcats, the wood-bat, college-level, summer program inaugurated here in 2002, have gone on to either be drafted by MLB organizations or signed with them or independent minor league teams after playing at least part of a summer here.
Today, the Mudcats officially experienced a new first - a current member of the team signing to start a professional baseball career.
