History Grand River Entertainment, a
not-for-profit corporation which oversees the Chillicothe Mudcats, was formed shortly
after approval of an expansion collegiate baseball team by the MINK League Board of
Directors in October, 2001. Grand
River Entertainment's primary purpose is to encourage, foster, promote, sponsor, and
operate non-professional baseball, softball, basketball, and other sports teams for the
pleasure and recreation of the citizens of Chillicothe, Livingston County, and the
surrounding area. Its first endeavor is the Chillicothe Mudcats.

The "Mudcats" name was
submitted by the late Dennis Kepner of Chillicothe as part of the Name the Team contest.
Grand River Entertainment operates with
a Board of Directors. The 2005 Board of Directors includes
executive committee members Butch
Shaffer, president; Steve Franke, chairman; Amy Supple, Ed Crawford, Liz
Fechtig, Rollie Stadlman, vice president; and Dr. Cal Greenlaw; and board
members John Barnes, Cindy Campbell, Dan Bryan,
Don Wilson, Ed Turner, John Edwards, Kathleen Chaney, Lynn Jackson, Mike Godsil,
and Terry Rumery.
Grand River Entertainment
has expanded its scope within the Chillicothe community with the April
announcement of the construction of a recreation center facility, which will
feature a 24 lanes of bowling, laser tag, and much more. Construction is
slated to begin in May with a fall opening of the facility. |
