Rebels Get Bombarded By Sedalia
by Garret Winsor

In a game that got off to a wild start the Sedalia (MO) Bombers snuck away with a 9-7 victory over the Newton Rebels. The Bombers leapt to a 5-0 lead after the end of the first inning. Two errors by the Rebels early in the game cost them three runs, they also scored two of their own runs in the second to put the score at 5-2. The Bombers decided to try to put the game away and scored a solo run in the third and three more in the fourth. A late rally by the Rebels, one run in the sixth and two each in the seventh and eighth closed the gap between the two teams but the Bombers held on to a two run lead through the ninth and clinched the game. Bombers DH Jason McBride came up big with two runs scored and two RBI.

Oaks Tear Down Griffons In Extra Innings
August 4, 2009

In what was a slow and methodical game - with an almost mechanical pace, it was the Conejo (CA) Oaks who went away with the win over the Nevada (MO) Griffons 4-2 in a ten inning crawl. One of the most exciting parts of the early half of the game was a bat that flew out of the hands of Oaks third baseman Ryan Delgado and almost hit a woman behind the third base dugout. The Griffons scored one run in the second inning to be answered by the Oaks - who scored one run in the fourth and fifth. The Griffons tied the game in the eighth with a solo run, the game went to extra innings and was capped off by two run tenth inning by Conejo and a double play defensively.

Following a disappointing loss on Tuesday night the Nevada (MO) Griffons vented their frustration on the Hap-Dumont Sluggers, coming away with a 4-0 victory. Griffons pitcher Kyle Oesterreicher threw a complete game and walked no batters in an impressive shutout performance. The loss eliminates the Sluggers from the NBC World Series - while the Griffons will play on Sunday against a team to be determined.
